Hi,

I'm about to by either a CPR Bak Pak 2R or an AquaC Remora HOT skimmer, but am torn between the two. the CPR can be had for about 120 and the AquaC for about 150. I don't mind the 30 differance if it's really worth it. Anyone have an opinion? Have you owned or do you own one of the these?

Thanks.
B.

Both are good skimmers...personally I would go with the AquaC...I've heard a lot of good things about it. The customer service of AquaCs is very good, too.

the ratings for both are just a tad excessive

I would not put the cpr on a reeftank larger than 30g

same deal with the remora

any larger than a 30g and you should be investing in a sump anyway.

I think I'll go with the CPR.. both seem to have good ratings, but the cpr is a tad less expensive. My tank is at 37 gallons, so I think I'll be ok for now without a sump (at least till I can afford one). Thanks for the advice guys.

LOL. You ask for advice on which is better, you get 5 people say the AquaC is better and 1 neutral and so you then go with the cheaper one?

I was going to add my vote for the AquaC as well (I've run both an AquaC and a Bak Pak) but obviously it won't matter.

Snowman, take it from a guy who's spent a lot of money "upgrading" ;) : Buy the AquaC Remora from the get-go. In the long run, it'll save you money and headaches. The initial higher cost is more then worthwhile, IMO.

If it's once piece of equipment that you invest in, it should be the skimmer. Buy the best, cry once.
