Reefs.org is very proud to annouce Sanjay's Reef Lighting Pages:
http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/

There has never been a more comprehensive resource for reef aquarium lighting:
- View spectral plots of popular metal halide bulbs, or compare two bulbs
- View performance data of ballasts, bulbs, and ballast+bulb combinations
- Read Sanjay's past lighting articles in www.advancedaquarist.com, Aquarium Frontiers, etc.

Sanjay's contributions to our hobby are undisputably tremendous; By consolidating all the data into a single resource, the information is now even more accessible!

Make sure to check Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine on the 15th of every month for new articles by Sanjay!

Looks very good!

When I go to compare two bulbs under spectral plots it doesnt allow me to fill anything in. Am I doing something wrong there?

Hmmm. I'll bring this to Sanjay's attention right away. I'm experiencing the same problems when comparing two bulbs as well.

Everything works great in IE for me. In Mozilla/Netscape, however, I can only go so far as to select wattage and mfg. All fields below that come up blank for me. I am using Mozilla 1.4. Maybe 1.7/Firebird works and I just need to upgrade ;)

Ah! I get the same error Len. I can select wattage and mfg and that's it. I'm using Firefox 1.0.

The compare two lamps page doesn't work on my Mac no matter what browser I use :(

I can fill in the watt level of each bulb, then lamp type never fills in.

Sanjay:

Will someone be looking into why comparing two lamps works in IE but not Mozilla/Firefox? I can select Lamp Watts and Lamp Manufacturer, but after that the dropdown boxes refuse to update and there is no selections available.

http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/select2lamp.php

This only happens in Mozilla/Firefox and I'm running the latest stable release ATM.

Unfortunately, I am not a computer programmer... and I have no idea why things are not working in Mozilla. I used Dreamweaver and a few plugins to get the hierachical menus to work like I wanted them to after a lot of effort... but I do not understand a lot of the code generated by these plugin/macros. Between learning PHP, MYSQL and all the other stuff I was able to to put to gether a workable site... I know its not the ultimate programmers dream, and a lot can be done to improve it but it may be beyond me for now until I can find a lot more time.

If you know any programmers who would be willing to help let me know.

BTW I am getting the same problem on Safari on Mac OS X, which in my hands at least usually handles javascript correctly.

You can use a syntax checker to see what is wrong with the page.

Some browsers are better at extrapolating broken or proprietary (nonstandard) syntax than others.

Sometimes it helps to use a utility like tidy to clean up the html automatically:
