mixing green and rose BTA in the same tank

hello,

long time i did not post in here

i am wondering if two BTAs will do fine together. i curently have a Rose BTA (E. quadricolor) in my 12G tank and would like to add a green one. do you think they will get into a fight?
the only answer i have so far tells me that the Rose BTA will take over the green one!

any good experience?

Toine,
They are the same species and will get along fine together. Over time and kept under identical conditions their colors seem to get closer to each other IME.

I've heard rumors that they use dyes to achieve some of the colors that are coming into the trade. Just could be IMO.

Some anemonies are dyed, but normally the BTA's aren't the species of choice to dye. You see a lot more of it with condies and the sort. 2 BTA's in the same 12 g tank? Seems like awefully close quarters to me.

I'd have to disagree here. Anemones entering the trade from the Far East and China in particular are more likely to be artifically dyed than anemones from Florida and the Caribbean. It is common knowledge that most of the rose bubbles entering the trade these days are coming out of China. A wholesaler in LA told me he thinks they are dyeing many of the rose bubbles. Heteractis malu which is sometimes sold as yellow sebae is also frequently dyed to achieve the desired yellow color so beware of these.

I think they'd be fine together if you've got decent PC or better lighting. They can get pretty big though,,,,might take over a 12g tank.

I don't think I've ever come across a dyed condy.

I've tried multiple anemones in my 10g nano and it would always result in one dead anemone, even though they weren't in contact with one another. Perhaps shed nematocysts from the dominant specimen killed the lesser one. Or nutrient competition. Two BTAs probably has a better chance (I mixed different species), but these things do get pretty big and I'd personally stick with just one anemone for a tank that size.

at this point i am just trying to gather information. i am far from having a second anemone (BTA) in my 12G.
