My wife wants me to set up a 55G for her that is.. gulp.. fish only. I need some good ideas for 3 or so key fish for this tank. Thanks for your suggs.

Why does she want fish only? Does she want a particular fish that will necessitate fish only, or does she just not like corals?

She loves the sterile tanks of the 80's that are found in resturants.

So are you gonna do dead coral skeletons and all? :D
If that is the look you are going for you have to have a lionfish!

Easy. A fairy wrasse, an orchid dottyback, and a candy hogfish. At least that's what I'd do. All are hardy and easy to keep.

Yeah PitPat - the whole retro tank :D

I agree with the Lion fish

So I need 2 more.

Why not several lionfish Andy? The dwarf species are cute, have different colorations, get along well in a school and won't outgrow the tank.

With just a few fish in a spartan tank I think I will need a good mix. The lion adds a nice awe factor but is not very active. The dwarfs like to perch and that is cool but I think the tank will need a little movement.

I am thinking a Lion and a Trigger and one or two more.

Which trigger though - The Niger or a small Pink Tail are options but I would like some more suggs.

? All the triggers get way too big to keep in a 55 long term...

I was just at a LFS (you know me, go figure!) and they had a small eel...now I don't know a lot about them as a species but I thought it was a neat critter!

That arch is kick ASS!!! :)

Thanks buddy, that's why I was in the LFS vat up to my armpit picking pieces....that's all fitted, no epoxy ;). I'm not done with the aquascaping, I've got another bit of eye candy to add in a few days.
