The green globes will fly off, and the entire algae will turn white within hours. It is a natural cycle (some of us call it "going sexual") that all of them will go thru one time or the others. A new Halimeda may comes up from the same "dead" spot, and if you are lucky, you may see dozens of Halimeda sprouting all over the rock.
