I'm looking for a mod to a euroreef to cut down on the micro bubbles. I cleaned the thing this weekend and the micro bubble are killing me. It is set up per the instructions. I tried it with and without the sponge and notice not difference.

I use a diy gate valve on mine which makes it easy to run the output through a filter sock.

Does it help? I was planning on somthing similar. I found on my modle 1.5 PVC fitting fit on the sleeve. I was going to put a tee with the branch facing the side then an elbow looking down. I was going to run the pipe out of the elbow almost to the bottom of my sump.

The gate valve doesn't do much for the bubbles, but the sock does. I don't think extending the pipe will help in and of itself, but I am not sure if that is what you are thinking about.

:D

I was thinking that the extra back pressure from having the outlet submerged would help reduce the micro bubbles. On my tank drain the back pressure helps with those micro bubbles quite a bit. What size sock are you using.

I think the backpressure trick works on a drain, but not a pump - the bubbles have no where else to go. :?:

I don't know the size of the sock, I just had it laying around.

You could also build a bubble trap, but that seems like work!

It also sounds like it will take room, which I have little of in my sump.

Use the smallest sock you can find. It doesn't clog fast at all.

This is what ER is starting to sell as standard now, along with a recirculating model....

This is external but you can do it in sump just as easily. The pipe going up is just a vent. It just ends open. The pipe going left then turns down to drop water into the sump. Just tie the bag on to that. I assume Righty has something along these lines.

That is what I was planning, but instead of a valve I was going to use the sliding sleeve. I test fitted a 1.5 elbow and it firts perfect on the sliding sleeve. I just need to get to the store and get a tee and some filter socks.

Yeah but if you put all that weight on the sleeve it just drops down to the lowest point doesn't it?

It did not move last night. It is kind of snug to get moving. I have to twist it to get it started. I'll have to try it to see what happens.

I would think with the bag on there and what not....I don't know. Mine is not nearly that tight of a fit, it would just slide right down.
