Ringtail Tang

heya, i am considering buying a ringtail tang (Acanthurus blochii). he is quite small but the limited info ive managed to find on them says they can grow to 17" in length. does anyone have any experiences with them? how peaceful are they. his tank mates would be a kole tang and some fairy wrasses.

In general all the Acanthurids are pretty difficult. Never kept this one (or even heard of it), but I imagine the requirements are like all the others--a big tank, like 300+ for one that gets that big. The info I have says 18". Of course it will need a lot of water movement, clean highly oxygenated water, and constant access to macroalgae as well as some meaty food now and then.

It should probably be added after any other fish--I'm just guessing it's aggressive like most of the other Acanthurids.
