If you know a more reliable pump that is quiet, I'm all ears Otherwise, I'm sticking to my Iwakis. I'll start installing and plumbing what I can before the tank arrives. My stand/canopy is scheduled to arrive on Friday! Hopefully the tank is near completion.

You better stick with Iwaki's after all these years of blowing their horn. I just purchased two 100's for my returns and a 40 to run the skimmer for my new 300's.

If you change teams now I'm going send you a package in the mail. You won't like what is in it.

Panworlds are the same pumps but cost less. They are made by the old chief engineer over at iwaki so if you go panworld you are really switching teams.

I have two and they are quiet and run cool.

If you need a big pump look at the sequence line, not the dart et all, but the industrial looking pumps. I have on the does about 3300 gph and it is quieter that the blueline doing 700 gph right next to it.

as a replacement for my Ampmaster that fell apart on me. I'm hoping to get it this week.

I know the 40 is way too small for you but I currently have a WMD40RLT that has been running 24/7 since '91. It's partner (I run parallel pumps) gave out two years ago. It didn't owe me anything The fan is noisy though so quieter pumps are probably in your future.

It has a nice curve. Since it is on a closed loop with not much piping I figure I am running it with 2-4ft of losses which is 3300-3600 gph.

The American motors are fine pumps, but can be (not always) more noisy and insignificantly hotter. I once wrote Iwaki and they told me the Japanese models are basically the same but built to tighter tolerances.
