Cycling a 220 gallon tank

My 220 gallon tank was set up for a few months but that was basicaly a disaster, so I drained it, cleaned everything in freshwater and refilled it, so now I have to cycle again.The tank is just a few feet from my established 55 gallon tank. Could I circulate the water through both tanks and skip the cycle completely? There's nothing but gravel in the 220 yet. I'm just concerned that I would be basicaly quadrupling the water volume of the 55. Would that be too much of a shock to the system? it would effectively be a 75% water change.
