I don't know why, but for the past 2 days, my pistol shrimp decided to almost die, lay on his side, play dead, then act normal, goes back to his borrow. Now today, he was "dead", now he's ripping around the tank like a crazy lunitic. Normally, I rarely see this guy.

My guess is he's trying to shed or something. I also have two cleaner shrimp, and they are behaving normally.

Water temp, ph, and salinity are all normal ranges.

Any comments?

Just a shot in the dark, but possibly some type of parasite infection that is screwing him up...don't know of anything specific but it sounds like something a parasite could do to an organism.

Ok, last night he shed...still alive... acts like he's got the "jimmy legs". Shakes around the tank, almost aimlessly. I can't figure this one out.

All params good.

I don't have an iodine test, but would he be able to molt if they were low?

Also, I have two cleaner shrimp, and they are acting perfectly normal. I would assume that the iodine levels would be bugging them as well, no?

Hmm.. maybe. What the average lifetime of a pistol shrimp? I've had him for well over a year now, and is a pretty good size.

Also...currently running poly filters. Does anyone know if these filters take out iodine from the water?
