hurray yet another example of a greedy fish "store" who'll help perpetuate another fad, and potental illegal poaching because they wanted to make a quick buck.
I agree. There are a lot more cooler looking corals. I have only seen a few cool looking Acans. other than that, I would not pay more than 30 for any coral.
Not even huge colonies, because they have adapted to a tank conditions unlike my own. Max I would pay is 30 for any coral, anything higher is a fad.

You'd think for $1,995, that the coral would be mildly attractive. At least with the Acan fad, a small percentage of them are quite stunning, but hardly worth what some people are paying.
Yeah, the whole selling point is it comes from an area that no longer allowed to collect from. Well how does anyone know when that guy got the coral? Does he have photographic documentation that shows THAT coral when it was originally brought in while still legal? Ehh.. not meaning to sound like he's doing illegal stuff mind you, just well ... yah.. but for that price I'd atleast try to haggle free shipping.. (probably still is a box & heater pack charge though ).
Actually, it is very difficult to get it at that area. If you consider the amount of paperwork Jeff has to go thru to get it to his store, it could be worth more than $2K just for the dead skeleton.
There are certainly some element of unfairness with a supply & demand type of economic model, but for this specific case, if you appreciate the behind-the-scene effort, you may not be as harsh in your opinions.
