My local reef monger had suggested that iodine addition (for xenia) was unnecessary and that it could make things worse by crashing out other elements (calcium in particular). He suggested that one should just keep up on the water changes...
So, doubtfully, I went and stopped the daily drops of Kent Iodine. In less than 2 weeks, my stripped carpet anemone has crawled from his lovely inflamed perch directly under the 250 watt 15K MH and shrunk into the corner. Nothing else has changed (I did move some star polyps to entice my clowns to follow into the anemone). I did my 20% biweekly water change today and started dosing again as 1/2 strength.
Is there any correlation to iodine and repair to UV rads, or is this just an anemone thing?
P.S. the xenia, clam, urcin, LPS's, etc...all fine.
