hi
thanks for ur reply earlyer, take a look at this picture and let me know if its too closely stacked,i would hate to have to take it apart, but if it has to be done it has to be done(will it be okay to change the rock around at this stage?i think the cycle is nearly done,i dont wanna move all the bacteria away from where its settled)
my results are as follows:
AMM 0.0 MG/L
NITRITE 0.3-0.8 MG/L
NITRATE 110 MG/L

(is mg/l the same as ppm?)
do u reckon its nearly cycled

Once your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are at 0, then your tank is fully cycled. You look like you have a little ways to go. No, mg/l is not the same as ppm, mg/l = milligrams per litre, ppm = parts per million.

I think what the op wanted to know was if PPm and mg/l have the same numeric value but the units are different. ..........
So 50 ppm = 50 mg/L

I have always considered them to be the same

With regard to water, one milligram per liter is the same as one part per million.

A liter of water weighs 1000 grams and a milligram is 1 one thousandth of a gram, therefore, with water, 1 Mg/L = 1 ppm.
