Hey All,
We are looking at being back up and running and pissing away money again in the Reef hobby in the next four months. I am planning on setting up two 150 gallong tanks instead of having 6 smaller tanks. I would like to order tanks that are drilled and have the sumps but I have never setup a tank like this before. Any suggestions or particular links I should follow?

Start here, as someone seems to be in the same path: http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=87252.
Or do a search on here for plumbing or drilled tank or sumps. There's a TON of info around here! :P
Any specific questions? (Might be easier)

To begin, I guess, go with the biggest sump you can afford/fit into your stand (if that's the case). I would say/think that about 40-60 gallons would be good for a 150G.

Try to go with 2 overflow as that will increase the amount of water you can turn over through your sump.

Also, think about getting your tank drilled for a closed loop as that can really help with the circulation.

In the sump, consider space for all your equipment (pumps, skimmer, heaters, filtration), baffles (sometimes you need them, sometimes you don't - but they will help you with reducing bubbles and maintaining water levels constant), and anything else you might want to have in there (if "in-sump refugium" for example).

You might want to go with a separate fuge altogether (that is, if you had thought about going with one).

You will also have to consider whether you want external or internal return pumps and drill the sump if necessary (external).

HTH a little. :D

How's life in NO treating you?

I would go with reef ready tanks. Ocenaic makes a reef ready 150 with dual ofer flows. If you are looking to have individual sumps I would think somthing 40+ gallons for each tank would do the trick. If you want a single sump the somthing 100 gal would be a better choise.

Good luck.
