Bought one a few months back and it is doing good. These things are beautiful in the light. I followed what everyone says and put it in a recessed cave where you can barely see it. Now, if you blow it off everyday to prevent algae build-up, can these things live in the light? Anyone with this type of experience? I know most people keep them in refugiums, but crap, why hide something so bright and beautiful?

I have one that I have had for 4-5 months. I have it shaded but the top half was getting too much light and began to collect some algae which I could not seem to blast off with the baster. I ended up cutting that part off and moving it to a somewhat shadiar position. Now it seems to be doing ok.

i dont think its the issue of growing algae on it.. i the idea is that they just dont need photo-energy to create food. Aren't these things %100 filter feeders?
