Today was a sad day for my tank, I went out of town for 3 days and returned to fined out that we had a power failure and when the power came on the fans did not come on for some reason and temps in the tank were at least 95deg. I lost all my sps corals, the fish and soft corals survived. I lost a purple rim and green cap that were almost 10in across. Everything was snow white Im pretty sure that this is caused by the heat right?

Yikes. I am so sad to hear about your losses. I had it happen to me once (but it was the exact opposite .... my chiller stuck on the "on" position and chilled my tank down below 55 degrees, bleaching/killing most everything). I know how you must be feeling. Ya, the heat probably was the chief culprit :(

It's tough for reefkeepers to travel. Even when things don't go wrong, you spend the whole trip worrying.

I'm very sad to hear this and hope you can get things back in check and start over. I had the opposite thing like Len said. My chiller probe went out and thankfully it was only over night, but the tank was freezing when I got up the next morning.

Keep the faith...
