Before I start moving around my LR, and possibly causing a reef collapse, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for looking for a lost firefish in my Nano Cube 24g.

It has been MIA for 2 days now, not coming out for feedings, which he always did. From what I've read and observed on my own, this fish is a hider by nature - but never for this long. I checked the back chambers and the floor, nada.

I do not see any signs of a carcass anywhere and everyone else appears to be ok.

Thoughts, suggestions?

I know of one that recently disappeared for a number of days..and then turned back up.
Be patient, no point in ripping your rocks apart is he's alive or dead...especially if you have a clean up crew in there.

Did ya test your ammonia..? Might give you a clue..

Got cuc in there - but its like a lost child to me...I just need to know what happened. Maybe I'm being a little too emotional about this :Yikes:

I'll test amm again as soon as I get home, but yesterday was 0. I did have a slight rise in salinity - from 1.0245 to 1.0249 - but no one else died.

Finding lost fish

I lost my blenny 2 days ago, But I found him yesterday. Now the first thind I did was look for any signs of slime left behind by any bristle worms or other scavengers. Second I thought of any unusual things I might have noticed, like my nudibranch being in my sump underneath my tank so I checked the sump. Then I remember him getting stuck on one of my pumps. I then looked all around the surronding floor around the tank in case he jumped but if you have a cat like me..well you know.. I then found him inside my overflow chamber only because I decided to check how my nudi made it to the sump. Well that is what I did yesterday, hope it helps.

I took Kathy's advice and just let it be. If its dead my cuc will get it. I'm not going to rip the tank apart over this. My amm seemed a bit over 0 and I changed 10% water last night to alleviate.

Thanks for the help folks.

Firefish will jump! But when spooked they hide what I do is check around after lights out with a small LED light you may find it sleeping!

good luck!

GOOD NEWS!

I found the firefish, well actually I didnt do anything and I was sitting by the tank the other night and voila - it appeared. Seen it a few times since then.

Thanks to KathyC for the advice not to rip anything apart - I never would have found it that way and would have ruined my aquascape in the process.
