Best Filter For The Buck

I just got a 44 gallon pentagon aquarium for a saltwater setup with live rock and coral but first I need to get a filter. The only problem is that it has to hang on the side due to its location in my house. I would prefer it to be quiet and not splash but cost is a factor and well beggars cant be choosers. I have looked into the HOT Magnum and the Aquaclear power filter, but really dont know what to get. PLease help.

Best hang on skimmer you can get.

How long has the tank been set up? How much rock do you have? What is your stocking list? What kind of lights do you have? Do you want to eventually add a sump?

get a good protein skimmer. deltec is expensive but very very nice and it is quiet. the aquac remora pro might fit your budget better, it is a very nice skimmer and a good value. a good protein skimmer is a much better value then hang on power filters or canister filters. they do much more good for your tank and i think you will eventually get one.
