Good Evening All,

I have a 75 gal tank set up for approx 4 months with about 70 pounds of Live Rock.

I recently have found a "new" algey growing and I have no idea what it is.
I'm sorry I can't post a picture as my camera won't focus on such a small item so close to the lense.

However, here is my best description.

It is through out the tank, but not over running the tank. It is white in color appox 1 inch long, with branches similar to a tree ( without leaves).

It sways back and forth with current and does not seem to harm the fish, shrimp or starfish.

Any ideas ? Any other details can provide ?

thanks,

Bonnie

Hard to tell without a picture but I'll try. Algae isn't usually white, does what ever you have show any motion or retraction?

Is this close to what it looks like?

If so, it's a foraminiferan and harmless, info on it can be found about mid page here:

If that's not it, the reefsdotorg Hitchhiker FAQ pages may be helpful, all kinds of good info and pictures.

Also, there is a whole forum here just for critter identification...

Thanks, that was quick and right on the money.

I'm pleased that its harmless and I'll leave it alone.
