clam growth

i have a purple clam, and well hes been in my care for almost 2 years and i can't say hes grown much though the mantle is quite the same and his reactions seem healthy i dose DTs and excellent water hes sitting on a bed of cheato (so hes not in the sand) and never seemed to like sitting on rocks much. whats expected clam growth

I know you said it is blue.. but do you know what kind it is? ALso, from what I understand, clam growth CAN be pretty slow. Do you dose Ca?

I had four 4' fluorescent bulbs (two actinics + two 10K bulbs) from ICE CAP that didn't seem to cause any growth no matter where I put the clams.
I switched to Metal Halide lighting (400W 10K and 14K lights) and put the clams up pretty high in the tank and saw all kinds of new mantels appear. 8)

Lighting seems to be the main answer. My Ca was always in the 300s during this time period (couldn't get the Ca up to 400-450 range), so I don't think this will have as much impact on the clam growth as light will. :idea:

i have 2 150 halides now, im wondering if the tank is to deep, its a 90.... perhaps i should move him up..... how can you tell if they are unhappy? and to answer your question i do the bionic 2 part dosething.....
