Couldn't pass on the yellow fiji at the LFS, they must have had it mispriced...but anyhow it was recentlly shipped and has a necrotic area which I've read is not uncommon from shipping stress

How do I cut the necrotice area off? It is on one end of it only, the coral is about 6-8" in length (got it for $48!!!)

Polyps have been coming out everywhere except the necrotic area, I was hoping it would heal up on its own but after almost a week no such luck and I want to stop it from spreading

Looking for any/all advice on how to operate on it

thanks

I had one get that way every so often. I made sure it started to get good flow over it. Then used a turkey blaster on it two to three times a day on the infected area. It cleared up in just a few days. It wouldn't hurt to cut the bad part off but it'll be upset for a few days. Look at it at night and you'll see where a part of the leather is thick looking. You can cut that into two and create a new fiji if the infection doesn't stop.

I did want to mention that one fiji I have, I have fragged so much that it starts to split into two by itself instead of growing large. Pretty wild.

Thanks for the response.

Currently I just don't have the time to tend to it more than once a day in the eveinings - I am a CPA in the midst of busy season

Also I have read that the rotting parts can be disruptive the the water environment so I was planning on removing it to a bucket to cut off the bad sections

Was really looking for input from people who have done this. How much should I remove? I do have it in a spot that gets really good water flow, I've read these leathers like that. Nonetheless it does not appear to be healing on its own.

How long should I wait it out? I was planning on cutting it this weekend, will have been in the tank for one week.

Thanks in advance for input!
