Need recommendation for closed loop pump

I'm looking to use my other OM squirt to make a closed loop, however I need some recommendations on what is a "good" one. Now by good I only have 2 real things I'm worreid about, most importantly is noise, it doesn't need to be whisper quiet, but I shouldn't hear a loud vibrating hum. Second is energy efficient, it doesn't have to be super energy efficient but energy efficient to the point of it's not that much more than a power head or two, which really rules out MagDrive pumps. A cost effective pump is also a nice perk, but if it's a good pump I'm willing to spend a bit more.

Other than that the requirements I have is it needs to be in the neighborhood of 1000-1500 GPH, the squirt supposedly fails to rotate beyond 1000 gph (although I've heard 1200gph). Now this isn't a HUGE concern since I can always tee off a ball valve to lower the pressure (which I'll probably end up doing anyways just incase to have an "out".)

how about iwaki 30rlxt? it only uses about 120 watts and it is quiet. or velocity pumps but i hear they clog a lot.

What size is your tank? Is the pump going to be mounted in a stand? Does the stand have an open back?

Have you thought about going with a Tunze system instead? A dual controller with 2 streams? I think it would cost a little more, but the power savings would be pretty drastic as the pumps draw a max of 15W each, and very quiet.

I just switched from a CL to 2 tunze nanostreams due to the whirr sound my CL pump emitted. It was on a shelf, with an open back stand, and vaulted ceiling. It directed the sound right to the couch. Drove my gfriend nuts.

Ok to answer some questions

re: Iwaki, 120 watts seems a bit high for a 960 watt pump, these are made for head pressures aren't they?

Tank is a 100 gallon long (6' x 18" x 18") The pump is going to come right off the back and literally be mounted as high as the hole is in the tank, this from a wood ledge that runs around the room. So the "openness" of the plan is quite open.

Didn't think tunze, to be perfectly honest I currently have SEIO pumps in the tank (2600, 1500, 2x 620) and if I'm going that route would probably rather go for a Vortec, however I don't really want to spend that kind of cash either. That and I'm leary of controllers, seems to me I'm paying for a premium high volume pump why the hell would I want to throttle it back a great deal of time?

The sound in the room is not too much of an issue, as the tank(s) are downstairs in my "fishroom/laundry room, however the bedrooms are right above, and right now I can hear a faint hum, I've gotten used to that sound but I do not need any more sound than that.

I also have an OM squirt on the return, I just need to redo that. The whole idea of the closed loop is in addition to more flow I want to be able to point the flow where I want, namely rock structures as I am noticing quite a bit of crap that collects on the rocks (especially when I work in the tank and my arm deflects one of the more powerful seios towards the rocks and the crap gets airborne.

One of the pumps I've looked at is the OceanRunner lines, the 6500 model uses as much power as the Iwaki with almost twice the output, and at half the cost.

Check out bluelines from Champion lighting. I hear that they're from an Iwaki engineer that went native. I've had positive experience with them.

Blueline pumps are the same thing as Panworld pumps. I had a panworld 50px-x (1100gph). 90watts. Great pump.
