I have noticed this green, fan looking algea a couple of months ago. It seems to be spreading. It looks kinda cool, but just wondering if it is good/bad???
Acetabularia; Mermaid's Cups, are comprised of a long slender stalk capped with an inverted cup. These can be sensitive, getting easily beat up in collection/transport. These are about a quarter inch across the tops... in the Bahamas
is this what that looks like? i can't see it very well.
or does it look like:
Udotea are fan-shaped algae, 3-8" in height, they and the Pine Cone Algae of the genus Rhipocephalus have the same care requirements as Halimeda. Some young Udotea in the Bahamas shown.
from the pics on the web, it looks most like the Udotea to me. I used to have a bunch of sargasm growing from the same place. After 6-8 months the sargasm went away and this stuff popped up. I will try to get a better pic., as my camera is very sub-par. If it is Udotea, should I let it grow???
