I think I caused a precipitate event while adjusting my CA and ALK levels - using Randy Holmes Farley 2 part solution. Tank is cloudy. Corals and fish appear to be oblivious to what's going on.

Is a water change the best thing to do? Or should I just let it work itself out. 40 gallon tank. I was going to change out about 5 gallons.

Were you using the baked version ? Most likley your ph just got a bit high. I would just let it be. It should clear up on its own. After that, just test alkalinity, calcium and magnesium to be sure.

Yes, baked version. My PH meter says 8.3, but I know for a fact when I add about 30ml the PH in my sump jumps up around 9.5 for a while. I'm mixing up some salt water just in case. Other than the cloudiness everything in the tank looks fantastic.

Yeah, that's the problem. As you know the local ph can get really high in the area of addition. I add a large ammount of that suppliment a day. To do it I just add it into the topoff for the day so it's slowly introduced in dilute form. But I'm adding hundreds of ml's.

Everything is pretty clear again. There is a nice white film all over the tank. You can see the snail trails. I'll get around to cleaning that off tomorrow. Instead of dosing my tank, I think I'll start adding it to the top off water instead. That way the PH level won't be such a shocker.

Thanks everyone!
