Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get some feedback on Freedom Filters(in tank). I currently have a 125 gallon FOWLR tank, and a remora c protein skimmer. I was looking for a replacement / something quieter and less risk of flooding. I has anybody used this filter and what are your opinions.

thanks, James

James, I heard of those, but if it be that your not so large a tank, then in that case, I would suggest getting yourself a good skimmer, to whatever you can afford, the best that is.

Try to stay away from HOB (hang on the back) and if your a sump, do get yourself a good skimmer. Myself, I use the ER (Euroreef) skimmer only and stayed with it for a number of years.

Hi James,

Is there a reason why you want to run a diatomacious filter? They will strip the water of all particulates. This is okay for fish-only, though your live rock filter feeders may suffer.

A skimmer will do a lot more then these types of filters, including keeping your tank condition more stable. I'd personally stick with skimmers versus the Freedom Filter.
