How Long do Soft Coral live?

I've kept different types of leather coral in the past and they usually only lasted around 6 months in my tank. I've kept and am still currently keeping mushrooms and ricordea which are huge and spreading very nicely, yellow and glove polyps which are dominating the tank, and lps coral which look more and more beautiful by the day. Do soft coral have low lifespans or do they just not like my tank? It's been a year since I've kept one because they keep on dying after a while.

Softies live seemingly forever. I've seen decade old captive softies (Sinularia, Sarcophyton, etc.).
