I am feeding Piscine Energetics Mysis shrimp and my fish love it. They are all really healthy and fat. The problem I have is that the shrimp is very oily and leaves a oil slick on top of my water. I have tried to rinse it with RO water and it helps but there the oil problem is still there. Does anyone have this problem? Is it something to worry about?

Skimmer should take care of that.

Just rinse it with tap water. Put some in a small dish, pour the tap water into it, and drain off the grease. repeat until there is no more grease when you put the tap water. Drain and add to tank.

I use PE mysis and it is oily. But, I use it for it's higher fat content for juvenile fish, so they grow faster. Are you feeding it to adult fish? It might be a bit more fat than they need. I've read a bit about captive fish getting fatty liver and shorter lifespans from eating FW mysis. I wonder if you might be better off feeding a SW mysis, like Hikari (sp, sorry).

I also wonder if you have enough surface agitation?
