I have my Protein skimmer built in to my 75pro clear sump. I'm having to adjust the venturi on the pump to keep the bubbles from constantly overflowing. If I do not keep an eye on the bubble action I can fill up a gallon quickly like in a few hours. Should I constantly have to be adjusting the venturi air to keep the bubble action to a minumum? The water looks clean that is being removed.

I hope you find some answers because I have the exact opposite problem. I need to adjust the airflow in order to keep the foam flowing....Mine also doesn't really result in a dark skimmate like most people tend to have.

How old are your skimmers. They can be tricky during the break in process but become easier to control later. Hopefully someone with the same skimmer make as you will have some clues on adjusting it.

i don't have an answer, but i had a similar issue with a red sea prizm pro i purchased early on. it either immediately overflowed with clean water, or bubbled way too low to be worthwhile. basically, i returned it for a better quality skimmer which was much easier to adjust and am glad that i did.
the new skimmer (ASM) produced skimmate almost immediately.

My Seaclone with an airstone, once moved from being a HOT to located in my sump, produced skimmate within one day - albeit tea colored.

I have a ProClear Aquatics MPS-150 (http://www.pro-clear.com/skimmers.html). It has been in use for three months now. It is working better than it first did, but I also have more stuff in the tank now. I also turn off the airflow (so it stops skimming) when I add marine snow to the tank for the filter feeders. , and this might be part of my problem...any suggestion?
