Can someone explain why reverse flow is better in calcium reactors? I have a choice between a regular one for $100 cheaper and a reverse flow one that I am told is better.

Well, someone gotta pay for the marketing guy, you know.

Seriously, the direction of flow usually won't worth $100 since essentially, the purpose is to recirculate the CO2-enriched seawater in the chamber. Rather or not the reactor is worth 100 bucks more you need to look at other aspect of the design/construction/ease of use, etc.
