Low Iron Glass quote

I'm ordering some low iron glass for a new tank. Quote is:

QUOTE FOR 48 X 27- 3/4" THICK OPTIWHITE WITH A BELT SEAMED EDGE ( NOT POLISHED, MAY HAVE MINOR CHIPPING*-- WE ARE ASSUMING THE EDGE WILL BE CONCEALED) $327.11

How does that seem price-wise?

That is from woonglass.com in RI. Other sources?

with polished edges. if you're using the piece for the front, make them polish the edges. Tell them they don't have to bevel the edges, but they do have to polish them. The bevels created a few bubbles in the silicone when i built my tank.

Bingo, that sounds like a much better price. What was the thickness on your starfire glass? Where did you get them? (Web site, phone, email?) Thanks, -WalterJ

I didn't mention it was 3/8" glass! that might have something to do with it. I live in nyc so I went to Paradise glass. It was like pulling teeth to get the pieces. They lost my order, then it ended up being 2 instead of 3 pieces, then I went to get the third piece (borrowed a car) and it wasn't there. They ended up delivering it the next day.

Call all the glass shops in your area. If they have it in stock it will be cheaper. If they have to order a full sheet (BIG) for your order, the price will reflect that.

Bingo, we are pretty far out in the sticks so unfortunately no local option that I've found even within an hour. I tried paradiseglass.com but just found a cybersquatter's web page. Do you have a phone or web site for your source?

This place cost about ten to twenty dollars more per big sheet than the other place BUT still less expensive than anywhere else. Everything is professional cut and polished on a machine-VERY square and exact! They also have Starphire glass (takes 2 weeks) only $50 to deliver to Manhattan.
