Hi all, am hoping someone here can help me!

Have had my tank running for a couple of months now and added a small group of yellow polyps about 2 weeks ago. Over the last 4 - 5 days the tips of the have gone darker, curled up and seem to be wasting away.

Water levels are 8.2 ph, 0 amm, 0 nitrite and 5 ppm. Salinity is 1.022 at the moment, temp at 26c.

Pic below may help to explain a little -

The water parameters look fine except the low specific gravity, which I would raise to 1.025. But I doubt this is the problem. Yellow polyps are fickle like this. Sometimes, they grow like crazy and then will suddenly crash and wither away for unknown reasons.

A few things I'd try is moving it down so it gets less light. Consider feeding the polyps rotifers, cyclopeeze, artemia, or small mysis shrimps. If you aren't dosing anything, consider a two part supplment to provide the polyps the minor and trace elements it might be lacking.

well, am slowly raising the gravity and have done a couple of water changes to make sure everything is ok but no improvement at the moment.

The polyps are towards the bottom of the tank already. I have fed some soft coral trace additives and also direct fed some shrimp as well. Am hoping these done die on me as wouldnt be good for my first coral!

well, gravity has been raised to 1.024 at the moment and i have been feeding trace nutrients and direct feeding them shrimp but no improvement at all.

In fact, a couple of them look to have died.

Has anyone got any other ideas at all?

I do find that they do better if they are fed, and used to target feed cyclopeeze.

Oh, and by the way...

:welcome:
