i've had this green tipped pocilapora for over a year. i got it as a 1" frag. all of the sudden, the base is dying off, and dying off fast!

what do you think? should i frag it up?

what causes this crap? all the other acros are doing well. :(

Could be RTN, but that pattern of decay could mean there is something toxic at the base of the coral near the rock. I would personally make a frag or two just in case the whole thing goes, but I think with good circulation, the death will stop at some point.

That almost looks like a Seriatopora to me.

ok. but nothing has changed on that side of the tank. it's been sitting there since i started this system and growing well.
no other corals are near it.
the flow has not changed there.

i wish i did have an easier explanation, like the ones you guys are suggesting. :?

My pocci looks just like that and it did the same thing. But mine was so thick that I believe the bottom just didn't get enough light from the rest of the coral above. Still the same way for months and months and the "dying" hasn't spread. :)

the bleach came out all of the sudden and creeped up quickly. i have since fragged the entire colony. about 85% of the coral was saved.
