I was going through some of the archives, looking for software to track my reef tank (because my notebook is getting a little.. old school) and I came across this post

http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... highlight=

All of these are no longer around... odd....

So, I did some digging.... and found this site http://www.efishtank.org

Anyone heard of it or checked it out?? Better yet, anyone a member over there???

They've got a thing going for $15 for a lifetime, but I just want to see if anyone has any experience with them before i sign up.

Anyone??

Thanks

No Sorry, I found the link to its download on another forum, and thought it such a good program that I put it up on my server as well. Which I have never done before. But will keep my eye open for a possible mac version.

So I went ahead and signed up with them.... the verdict.... I'm actually really pleased. Lots of good tools and calculators and such. I got sent an e-mail reminder today, came to my cell phone (I have e-mail on the cell,) told me that it was time to do a water change, so I stopped by the LFS and picked up some salt. I'd say overall it was worth the $15, I'm now a lifetime member, and even if the content sucked (which it doesn't) I'm signed up to win their monthly prize (every month they have a new one... this month it's a reef keeper 2, and once you sign up your entered every month automatically)

So yeah, I'm happy. Check them out, it's a real nice idea.

FWIW, you could also use Remember the Milk ( http://www.rememberthemilk.com/ ) and interface it with Twitter ( http://www.twitter.com/ ) if what you're aiming for is for tank maintenance reminders. Granted, RTM / Twitter wouldn't give you the kewl graphs that efishtank will, but you can email in maintenance tasks and get either email reminders or SMS reminders as well.

I did a quick look around it and you can get reminders sent to:

email
twitter
AIM
GaduGadu
GoogleTalk
ICQ
Jabber
MSN
Skype
Yahoo
Mobile

And you can interface with their service via:
iPhone/iPod
Windows Mobile
Twitter
Google Calendar
iGoogle Gadget
Netvibes
Jott

Hmmm....this may make for an interesting article.... ;)
