Thanks !!!!

smallest foot print I've seen is the Elos line of skimmers. Shortest I've found as well. I'm extremelly impressed with both the function and quality of the Elos skimmer, top notch all around!

Well my tank has a sump built into the back. Its a Sea Clear system II tank: http://www.casco-group.com/USFS-seaclear.html

Unfortunately the AquaC EV120 I have coming in the mail doesnt look like its going to fit. In fact, neither do the Mag 5 and 3 pumps I was planning on using in the sump section. I can swap out the Mag pumps with a pair of Hydor Seltz L40's or L35's ( http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~ ... 09202.html )
since they will fit in the sump section. The 2 larger sections in the sump measure 10.5"L x 4"w but with the lip on the top of the tank, it reduces clearance to 10.5"L x 3.5".

Im not opposed to using a hang on unit at this point. Only problem is, the lip on the tank side measures 4" from edge to water, whereas the back sump section is just 1". If the hang-on goes on the back sump section, the intake would need to be extended somehow to reach the water level.

You can see more detailed pics of my tank here to get a better idea of what Im working with: http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... c&start=20

Have you considered a tunze? I used to use a 9010 and thought quite well of it. Footprint was something like 4.5" x 4", total.

That looks like a nice skimmer. It unfortunately is a bit too wide...
4.9" x 4.4" x 14.8"

The wall to wall width in the built in sump is 4", however the lip at the top of the acryllic tank reduces that to 3.5"

Hrm. They do make a smaller model tunze, the nano, but I don't know that I'd recommend it for anything larger than 20-30 gallons.

You could talk to Jason Kim of AquaC about a custom job. They've done EV and Remora models with custom dimensions in the past that I know of. Come to think of it, their Urchin line of skimmers might just work for the space you have, too.

The urchin footprint is: 7.5" x 5.25"

The Tunze nano looks like it will fit, but I ned to find out the diameter of the collection cup. Only problem is, its only for 10-52g tanks. I suppose I could run 2 of them...

Any other suggestions, im all ears

Thanks btw for your help thus far!

Actually, Marine Depot says it's 6"x3" for the urchin and 8"x3.25" for the urchin pro. I'm not sure those figures include the intake nozzle, which might be a problem. They don't include the pump footprint, but that parts no worry as it's connected to the intake via flexible tubing and could sit next to the skimmer rather than in front of it.

If the intake nozzle does bring the width up too wide, that I'm reasonably sure could be changed in a custom model to be on the side rather than the front of the skimmer body. Again though, you'd have to ask Jason Kim.

One more thought, though it's on the expensive side... the deltec MC500. It's 8.25"x3.5"x21", you can check it out at http://www.deltecusa.us/proteinskimmers/mc500.php

I'd go with 2 Aqua-C Remora Pros. I have one and it works really well as long as you keep the spray injection hole and the pump clean.

I was at the LFS today to grab some live rock and picked up a Coralife superskimmer 125. I can hang it off the back of the tank over the sump and its included pump will fit in the sump section.

I guess it will have to do for now until I can figure out a better solution. Anyone have experience with this Coralife model? Is it a total piece or what?

I may inquire from AquaC and Tunze about a custom model per your suggestion cj. It doesnt hurt to ask...

the super skimmers are actually pretty good skimmers for the price. from reviews i've seen they are by no means the absolute BEST skimmer.. but for the price they pack a lot of punch.

I have the deltec mc500. Its not bad, but I don't honestly think it's worth the price. I paid full retail. If you csn find a used one, it would be definately be worth it.
