---i also put this post in the "general" section, but then i found y'all down here under the tank......

"i asked this question in another post, but i don't know that anyone saw it. i am hoping to begin filling my new tank today. i am really torn as to whether or not i am cool with the fact that the overflow cover doesn't fit......

i tried to fill the gap with epoxy but it won't fill the gap.

you can see the gap that runs around the front of the cover. the gap tapers off to nothing where the back corners meet the tank perfectly and holds it securely in place.

i would just go with nothing, but the stand is so tall that when you sit on the couch the water level will be to low without it and the lights above would be directly in your eyes.

if i shouldn't let this happen, i don't need to fill the tank today. i just really really really really really really really really really really really want to....."

It is hard to picture what is happening here - but how about trying silicone aquarium sealant instead of epoxy?

I'd put a piece of cardboard in front of it. Or some scrap OSB.

You should be fine. The little gap is not going to hurt anything.

the problem is that water will flow down between the black cover, and the glass box that is attached to the tank.... the black cover literally just slides over the glass box. i can foresee water flowing in between and creating a great place for algae to grow.

sorry, i meant silicone. (i actually thought they were one in the same) the gap in front is to big to do this. the sides, no problem. but the distance between the glass and front of the black is about 1/4" or so....

glass cages says its no problem. and if i am concerned about algae growning, i should leave enough space to take it out and clean it....

i wasn't to happy with that answer.....

Seriously? That was their answer? :?

Ok, how about taking up some of the gap with more pieces of glass, cut to fit? Then you should be able to get a really tight seal, if I'm understanding what you're describing correctly.

Man, I cannot fathom the big picture here.
A tank with a plastic cover all over the glass?!?

Can you post a post a picture of the whole tank?

What is so bad about algae growing in a hidden location anyway?

Oh yeah, I've seen the way glasscages does these covers. Nothing to worry about, imo.

mark you playin with me now?

No. I thought it was firmly in place and just had a gap. It should stay put with nothing and not be an issue. My though is from an accidental bump later on that would knock it over or out of position.
