flame scallops?

so we are in said store, and she looks over and sees "flame scallops".
i am on the other side and i hear;
the guy in the store say to her, "oh yea derry easy".
she gets excited.
meanwhile this is the same guy who said that the big goldfish were saltwater fish.

reef safe?
they do look cool.
i assume they serious roamers though.

Reef safe yes, easy...not so much. They are specific filter feeders and require additions of lots of the right sized food (phytoplankton). The addition of that food can overwhelm a tank and cause algae issues. If they aren't fed properly they simply waste away. Do a google search and you will find lots of info.

They are "rental" items. $10 and it will last for a few weeks, maybe 4 months or so. Pretty cool critter, and belongs in the frying pan with butter and a dash of oregano.
