Curing Dryrock?

Ok, So I am using dried rock instead of live rock for the first time. My initial thought was I would start the tank then seed the rock with some live rock from my existing tank. It took about 2 days to make enough RO water to fill the tank. During the process, I started smelling a foul oder. By the time the tank was full, this thing stunk pretty bad and the water was very cloudy. For about the last day and a half, I have had the water circulating and have been using media bags with carbon to try to clear up the water. I guess even though the rock was dry, it must have had some organic stuff going on.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to properly cure this stuff?

Time, patience, a skimmer if you have one and large water changes I would think. Was the rock in another tank once upon a time?

I don't think. About half of it was from my LFS, the other was 2 part solutions eco-rock. The eco-rock is pretty dense, so I'm thinking it probably was stuff deep inside them. The rock from my LFS was real nice "lace" rock that may have been bleached.

I came home from work today, and the water looks better and smells much better, but I am going to run a canister filter on it for awile.
