Saw these for sale at my lfs, and the saltwater guy (good guy) swears by them and says they promote coralline algae with good growth.

I forgot to look at who puts it out.

Anyone use this? What's the deal?

Peace,

Chip

Some of them are low in salinity. (1.022ish. great for FO, but not so much for tha reefs.)

(I think)Natures Ocean donated a bunch to Macna. Everyone seemed to be happy with it (short term)

Heh...1.022 is what I've always kept my tanks at, and my last coral-only tank with the acans in it all thrived. :D

Thanks for the advice, Master B!

Peace,

Chip

What a chore that would be to lug those things from the LFS. Unless you have a tiny tank, what's the point?

Well, a 28-gallon means at max 5 of them when I start it up. Not a big deal to me at all.

I could see it differently if I still had my 180. :D

Peace,

I use natures ocean in my 10 gal nano at work to do 5 gal changes every month. I order them from premium aqautics to the store. Its great stuff. The corals all expand like nuts after I do the water changes and I have excellent water quality. I make my own for my home tank but for small tanks its well worth it. Its called natures ocean nutri-seawater

If you decide to do it Chip, post up how it works. I was thinking of using that if I decide to do the nano.

I eat 70lbs sea turtles for breakfast...

*Anecdote*

I just set up an RO/DI system at home. My previous job was at a research institute, and they had house RO.

I maintained my tank for 4 years, and one tank move by taking water from work 6 gallons at a time. Looking back on it, I should have bought the RO unit years ago! :D

I was not stealing water, I was borrowing it. It was eventually returned to the atmosphere and back to the university.

Okay, I'll let ya know. Should have initial setup results by next weekend, and corals will be in by the end of the month with pics.

Peace,

Chip
