Hi all and Happy New Year to EVERYONE at Reefs!

I'll keep this question as brief as possible but I know there's more to this ...

I am setting up a new tank , My ONLY 100% no turning back gotta have this go round is a snowflake eel.

ok so decision that 1 decision has also answered the question of community or pred tank :)
and possibly what clean up critters to avoid lol...

whats a comfortable tank size (Gallons and Demensions) to house a snowflake?

The space I am working with is an open wall 8.5 feet long and 8 feet high with a laundry room located directly behind the wall

(I'm gonna have me a "fish room" with a sink, washer and dryer ta boot!)

I have been eyeing the AGA 120 for a while now but want to ask the community here if this sounds like a good base to start with or should I suck it up and go bigger? I know bigger is better but bigger ain't cheaper!

thanks in advance!!!!!

Eels don't take a lot of space and don't require a lot of swimming space. Your 120 will be fine.

Go bigger for other reasons. ;)

Thanks for the reply Louey....

U just got out of a 300 right?

I considered going that big but just can't seem to get the ambition level up to tackle that size. My upper limit has been about 180 for consideration. May still go that rout but a few upgrades to equipment i have stored would need to be made.....

Hope u find ur way back into a reef soon.... u have always been a great asset to this community.....

Thanks wereef.

I had the 300, but I had the snowflake in a 38G reef. He was perfectly fine in that.

I started a 24G Nano a couple of months ago, so I am back into reefing already.

The main difference between a 180 and a 300 is money. The time and effort on both would be about the same. Both are huge. I loved my 300 and would still have it today had I not decided to move. Large tanks are great once they are set up. But they are a ton of work to set up, especially if you do a built in. And the power bill is huge on a tank that size. I would guess at least $150 per month on the 300G.
