question about my greenstar polyps

Hi guys

Well, for now my tank looks perfect, no big issues.... everything is growing... hammers, torches, clavularias, clams.... parameters are perfect but my greenstar polyps stop growing for months 8O ... is not wierd? It used to grow like a weed but for months the pollyps are open but small and theres no new polyps, I use metal halides and the coral is about 30 inches below the bulb so I think the light is ok , do you think theres a element that is missing in the water? I dose kalkwasser and strontium, molib... my chaeto stop growing too, mmm, maybe green star polyps like some nitrates? (mine are cero) .

Any advice? Thanks

Sorry I didn't see this until now. GSP IME do tend to 'sulk' for periods of time, I haven't yet found a reason for it. I have found that when they do that, if I put them in an area of higher flow and/or regularly 'storm' the colony, i.e. use a turkey baster or indirect powerhead flow to blow any detrious or other guck off they do perk up. Also, fragging off part of the colony will also work sometimes to stimulate the rest.

I agree. I have two sepearate colonies in my tank. The one with strong water flow seems to be larger everytime I look at it, and I am constantly fragging this stuff. The other, in a spot with much less flow has stayed healthy, but has shown little growth if any. Have you change your circulation patterns lately?
