I added a ribbon eel a few weeks ago, and the clownfishes seem to be alright with it since they are pretty big fellows. Now, on last Tuesday, the temp went up to 110+F in downtown LA, and it is almost as awfully hot here, and I don't have my chiller on. The female clownfish is missing since last Tuesday, and I can't find any trace of her anywhere. Do you think she is just hiding, or she is a goner? The male clownfish is smaller, and he is at his usual spot, BTW.

Any way he could have jumped into the overflow? - I had one for years that loved to do that. :x

It's up to the lone male to decide. He does not seem to miss her, so I think I will give him a 3 month mourning period, and give him a new bride when he move to a new tank, which should be less than a year.

By that point he'll be after a new husband, not a new bride. :P

Well, pope is happy, since I can't find the male anymore. :(

Do you all think the ribbon eel did both?

Has the eel been acting suspiciously since the disappearances?

What are you feeding the eel?

It eats little fishes about the size of a toothpicks. Sometimes baby shrimps. There is no way that the eel can open the mouth to swallow the clowns since they are full grown. They did fight over the foods that I put in the tank, however. The eel is about 3.5 ft or 4 ft long at the most. If it eat anything bigger than a marble, I think I should be able to spot the belly since it is no thicker than a pencil.
