About a month ago my Heteractis Magnifica split into 3. Been meaning to post this for awhile, and I finally got around to delivering one baby to its new home at Greenwich Aquaria so I thought now would be a good time. The pictures don't really do the process justice, but needless to say I am incredibly excited to have created 2 "tank raised" h. magnificas. Call me a dreamer, but I'd love to see a steady supply of cultivated h. mags grow over the coming years! Anyways, just thought I'd share some pictures . . .

That is a beautiful piece and congrats on your husbandry skills in keeping it happy enough to split!
I see some nice colors in your tank there - any more pics to share?

This is one of the most exciting events I've seen in years.
I have always been blown away by Joe's aquarium, one of those that I've felt to be the best of the best. The crowning jewel, is his H. magnifica. A true testament to his exceptional husbandry techniques, not being a follower of fads but actually having a deep and well researched understanding of the organisms in his charge.
In fact, our tank was designed after Joe's, I always dreamed of an H. magnifica as glorious as his. We tried several wild ones to no avail. Imagine my glee when Joe recently called me, not only to tell me that his had split, but to offer me one of the clones.
I think what Joe's acheived is groundbreaking, and it is with great pride that we take on his young offspring. Go Magyar!

Now we just have to figure out what his secret is!

Aww gee guys, y'all are makin' me blush :) Anyways, I think the hobby in general is progressing rapidly and I give huge credit to forums like this one where ideas, tricks, mistakes, and successes can be shared almost instantly. I am truely excited to see Jason's tank mature as he is using a vast array of sophisticated feeding methods and so far is keeping several species of "impossible to keep" cnidarians alive. We'll see . . .!

Thanks again,

Joe

Thanks for providing the link to the pics Joe! That is quite a set up you have and the color on the Oregon Tort is stunning.
All I can say about the H. Magnifica is that it properly named! :splitspin
Wishing you continuing success with your beautiful reef. Thx for sharing.
