how much to feed to a ribbon eel

Probably not a good idea for me, since I need to move my tank in a few month, but I got a ribbon eel a few days ago. It is yellow (female) and about 3 ft long. Whenever I feel the clown fish, it goes crazy. I try to feed it small fish, but don't know how often or how much. My wife feels that I underfed it. She says I used to feed mouse to a snake, and the mouse was bigger than my thumb, while the eel is longer, and I only feel it one fish the size of a small wall nail. I know she is wrong (it would be embarrassing if she is right...) but I don't know how much is appropriate.

I had one for a short while - L wouldn't come into my office because anything without legs is a snake to her - I fed it shrimp (2 small to medium) and small crawdads at least every other day. I tied a small fishing weight to a piece of thread and tied the food a couple of inches above the weight. I just lit it sink in front of the eels hiding spot and he would grab it most of the time. I used lead weights but got tired of having to immediately remove them so I started tying little pieces of base rock a sa weight. Every couple of days I would remove them and use them again. There is a tube you can buy that protects the food from other fish but I never used one.

Mine usually grab the feeder fish from my fingers when I put my hand in there. My wife worries that I am going to get bitten or something, but so far, there is no blood. Maybe I should get an electric eel
