vortech owners- question/advice

wont bothering asking how you like them(thats a bit obvious) - I'm in a bit of a quandary - I'm still in the planning/accumulating stage of my new 65gallon reef, and I plan on going with a Vortech for circulation rather than a closed loop - Should I go with a single MP10 and have it max'd out, or should I go with a MP40, and dial it way way back?(the MP10W is an option as well, but I assume if I went this route and needed a second I'd have to get a 2nd wireless model right?)

I've read that at full power they can get a bit noisy, and initially I thought to get the '40 so it stays a bit quiet, but then I've also read that a couple people have their '40s dialed so far back, they're only at 25-30% power -Seems a bit of a waste if I have to dial it back THAT far to keep my future inhabitants from getting blown to hell and back.

MP40 hands down.

I have the MP10 and it worked great in mt Biocube 29G (18 in wide tank)

I moved it to my new 60G cube(24x24 in) and the flow is not enough. I am going to add a MP40 in a few months.

When I had my 58 Oceanic I used 2 40's, I have a 40 on my 28 JBJ nano now. The one in the 28 is dialed all the way down, I just had it so used it. The 58 was SPS dominate and bare bottom so had them both all the way up.

A 40 would probably do fine. It will need to be turned down some. The amout will be based on what you are going to keep. SPS bare bottom you probably could run it full out and not have issues. If you did go with the 10 use the 10W. If you would decide to get a second you would need another 10W. The wireless is built into the W units. You can also mix the 10W and 40W units.

My sister in law has a MP10 on her 45 and it's barely enough IMO. One MP40 should be good for a 65.

kewl, thanx guys, looks like a MP40W will be on order once the Fed's are done with the interest free loan I gave them(tax returns)
