I’m looking to add my first mushroom coral to my reef tank and would love some advice from experienced reef keepers. I’ve been looking at different varieties, including Ricordea, Discosoma, and Rhodactis, but I’m not sure which would be the easiest to start with.
My main concerns are lighting, flow, placement, and how quickly they spread. I’ve also heard that some mushroom corals can become aggressive or take over nearby areas of the rockwork.
Would you recommend keeping them on an isolated rock or placing them directly in the main aquascape?
Which mushroom species has worked best for you, and what should beginners watch out for?
