I had an Idea cause i have to get mine out of a 6 gallon nano.

Take a tiny water bottle. Cut the top off, and reverse the top of the bottle inside of the bottle. put a piece of dried shrimp...

U can smell success.:chef:

Shrimp Trap

Make a birds nest out of monofiliment fishing line(light weight) the ball of line should be about the size of a tennis ball and loosly formed.Bait the center with food that it likes when he goes through the tangled mess to get the food hopefully he'll be snagged. I use this method for catching lobsters while flounder fishing and I should work on its mini cousin

Bottle trick does work.I made my trap out of plexiglass I had laying around.
Fosters and Smith sells traps.Page 114 of the latest catalog if you want to check them out.
They do venture out at night. How do you think your fish dissapeared. When you catch him mak shrimp oreganato out of him.Lol

Put the little guy up here for sale after you catch it. A lot of people like them. I have
never seen them eat live stock, but there are always exceptions.

The bottle trick is the best way, but you have to get the opening to sit right at the sand bed level, I don't think he will swim up to go in the trap. My pistols are always crawlers, I never seen mine swim unless I corner them with a net.

Good luck.

Yeah i'm in the process of catching my pistol shrimp now..but he's not falling for my tricks......i'm using the small bottle that pods come in...a better idea for him to get in is try to put the bottle in the sand only exposing the opening...put a silver side in the bottle rubberband to a small piece of rock rubble....u'll have to wait for the lights to go out and wait for him....when he goes in make sure u have a cup or something to cover the opening of the bottle with so if he decides to SNAP at you he doesnt take skin off your hand...i just thought of this method so i will try and let ya know....that nest thing is a good idea..i shud try that...
