got me a orbit hqi/t5!!

so i decided to give MH a shot.....i got this outer orbt 2x150w hqi/t5 at a good price......so selling my aquatinics tx5 to a local reefer.....(im gonna miss you aquactinics:sad2

heres a little peek....

i like it...its bright....but the only this is.....the stock bulbs are too yellow...even with the 4 actinics....
so im wondering what others reccomend or have experience with....
something in the 12-13k look.?....pheonix 14k is too blue for me....
so what 150w bulbs would go well with 4 actinics to give me that crisp blue look...?(im thinking of changing at least 2 t5 bulbs to ATI blue+)

heres a pic to show the yellow....but my camera wont catch it...its the best i can do with a canon P&S.

I have the same unit except its a 72". I have had it for about 1 year now. The only complaint I have is that the fans have grown progressively louder in the remote ballasts. I plan on swapping them out soon.

I have the 48" same fixture but w/ 250watt HQI's .. I didn't like the color either.

So this is what I did .... I swapped the 10K current bulbs with 12K reeflux bulbs... Then I put 2 ATI blue plusT5's, 1 UVI Actinic Bulb T5, and 1 ATI AquaBlue Bulb.... my tank looks great now.

Needless to say I have a bunch of backup bulbs.


JW10604: Try cleaning your fans ... they probably have dust build up. Get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out.

chief....i used screens for acclimating and am running the MH 2 hours a day...its been about 2 weeks since i got the lights

yea im bringing up the hours....im sorry i dont know why i said i had it for 2 weeks....i think i meant i will acclimate it for 2 weeks?
