First off, I have to thank Hydor for their generous donation of 6 Koralias to the MR Frag Swap Raffle!!

During my conversations with Frank Moore at Hydor, I asked about the recently introduced flow directors that concentrate flow into more of a stream rather than a wide pattern..and once again Hydor came through for us!!

Btw...Hydor technically calls them Concentrators w/Fishguards :)

In order to get the concentrators (with fish guard! :)) out to our members who want them, Frank sent me a box of each size (#2 and #3 take the same size) for Koralias #1 through #4. The Koralia Nano is designed differently, so there is no concentrator for them.

He also send along a bunch of the replacement Shafts for the #2 and #3 Koralias for anyone who did not previously return theirs (that had the ceramic shaft) for a replacement Koralia.

If anyone would like the Concentrator (with fish guard! :) ) for their Koralia..and you haven't already contacted Hydor yourself, please post up a pic on this thread of your tank showing us your Koralias (hey..advertising stunt here for Hydor/Koralia..least we can do!!), tell me what size Koralias you have and I'll pop 'em in the mail to you. (PM me your address & 'real' name)

I wonder what goodies Hydor & Frank will send us for the next Frag Swap?:flower:

Thanks Hydor!!!!!!!!!!!

Kathy, why would you want to concentrate the flow of the hydor? I thought having a wide flow was the point to buying them. I've not used them is the flow super wide?

To make the Koralia more versatile?
To eat into Tunze's market?
Is this a test? lol

Yes, they have a wide flow and the strength obviously depends on the size Koralia you purchase (gph and all that). Also I like them because with the wider flow I'm not blasting corals that are nearby. The concentrator also allows you to bounce flow off glass to get it to areas you can't necessarily place a p/h in.

Some people didn't like that the flow was coming out of the 4 opening, then wanted more of a concentrated flow. The complaint was coming from people that had SPS tanks as they couldn't direct the flow in one spot and it was blowing the sand around. It's more a thing of choice as some people, including myself, liked that you have a wider flow pattern.

that's what I was asking, if they had a wider flow compared to a tunze

I only noticed substantial flow coming out of 2 opposing openings :headache:

I quickly obtained the "concentrators" when they came out and I'm 100% more satisfied now.
