Hey guys,

As some of you may know, I'm have put in an order for a new 100g Square that is due Feb 22nd.

They sent me two layouts and I just wanted you opinions on them. The only Diffences are the Closed loop inputs. In the first lay out there is 1 - 2" input right in front of the overflow. In the other there are 2 -1" inputs on each side of the overflow. Which would you guys go with in regards to which is better for aqua scaping?

Just an FYI. the close loop is an OM 4way powered by a dart.

Damn Jim... that was fast lol...

I do want a small/shallow sand bed but, what's not showing there is a step that will kinda cover/strain the CL inputs... kind like this:

This will keep animal from getting sucked up. The vertical part will be perminant and the Horizontal will be removable (for cleaning).

Now the question is... where to put the holes.

Very interesting design. If you leave the return CL bulkheads so close to the corners (as in your CAD design in post #3) you will have large buildups of algae and coraline in the corners. There'll be no way to get in there to clean it out.

If you move the return bulkheads in toward the center by a few inches, you can add LocLine with a wye to divert flow in various directions (eight ways instead of four) from the CL.

Hey Russ,

The cad in post 3 that was added was only to show an example of the CL input covers (Steps to the left and right of the overflow). The actual tank will be built to the spec of the diagram 1 or 2 in post 1.

John,
I think either way would work. The CL overflows being either dual or single should give you a good amount of return flow either way. It's not like the water going through there will be filtered in any way. It's just for flow. The dual CL overflow might give you a little less dead spot in that corner. Nothing substantial IMO.

OK... so I just made it offical... this will be the layout of my new tank... at least until I deside to change my mind about something else.
