building a new sump:beer:....i was using styrofoam from HD to put under my tank and sump...but looking for a thinner material for the sump......looking for something to help vibration and just in case the stand or sump isisnt even ....what do you use? and where to get it?:scratchch

DO NOT place foam underneath a glass tank unless it has no plastic frame. Foam is for acrylic tanks or glass tanks without any kind of frame.

Also, if the stand isn't even shim it. :) Better to fix the problem than come up with a work around.

the tank is shimmed and level....and the sump will be acrylic.....but just wanted to add a layer under it ...might not even need it...but just feel like i should...

oh man fritz....i had the foam insolator under my 50g for about a year now.......dont get me paranoid...if i tear down the tank....im gonna downgrade....soo.....looks fine so far....:dead1:

Why is foam bad for glass tanks? I have a slightly uneven tank/stand and bought shims but am worried that the shims will focus too much weight on too small an area. Is that a problem?
